Reflection Ch 13

I personally like the law aspect of anything. Chapter 13 goes into the legality issues of using Internet. This is a necessity. No one wants to go to jail or be sued. Keeping in mind what is legal and what is not is a good tool to have when dealing with children and the Internet.
To bad this class is coming to an end.  I have really enjoyed all the information that has been presented to me.  Thank You Mr. Chamberlain:)

Reflection chapter 12

I believe that we will always need that human attention. Teaching requires the teacher to be in person teaching. Sometimes distance education might be ok, but not everytime. It could be a tool to help inhance your class. We are human and need that interaction.
Although I missed some of the "school sucks" video, I liked what he had to say. When writing my paper for english, I was getting angry on the whole testing thing. Being a teacher is more than a piece of paper. Being a teacher is the whole package, education, experience, and desire.

Reflection Chapter 11

Chapter 11 contained information about audiovisual devices that can help any one or be a useful tool. The headphones with the microphone attached was really neat. You can record whatever and listen to it. This will be a helpfuf tool when learning a new language.

Reflection Chapter 10

Chapter 10 has alot of information in it.  One thing that I am doing is creating a google site for the preschool that I work for.  I think it will be a wonderful tool to inform parents about up coming events.  I believe that the internet has a place for everyone.  Students could greatly benefit from this resource.  I keep trying to convience my husband that we need internet, or that it will be helpful to us.

Reflection Ch 9 and Skype with Ms. Mimi

Chapter 9 was all about the internet.  The chapter talked about how the internet worked and where it comes from.  Also some teaching tools.  Now I really enjoyed talking to Mrs. Mimi.  She is fascinaing.  I can't help but wonder if she got burned out from teaching because of all the politics.  My english paper is on the lines of testing in our schools and colleges, and the fairness of these tests.  I believe I would like to talk to her more on these issues.

Reflection ch 8

Chapter 8 was very much like chapter 7.  The only difference is that chapter 7 was child geared.  I would be willing to guess that most children, who are computer literate, can work through the administrative software just as easily as the academic software.
The TED TV clip was interesting.  I enjoy listening to Sir Ken Robinson.  He makes some very intriguing points about education.  I think like he thinks, I think.

Reflection ch 7

Chapter seven had some nice information about certain programs like word and spread sheet stuff.  It was a bit boring.  Some of the content I didn't know what it was called untill I read this chapter.  I knew what it was, but didn' know the name.
Poptropica is nothing but interesting.  I really enjoy making my character do flips.  She flips everywhere.  I still do not know what the premiss is.

Reflection Chapter 6

Chapter 6 was about devices to make our lives a bit easier.  Most of the items discussed in the chapter I already knew about.  The video on TED TV was really good.  Starting a tutoring service would be something I would love to do.  The way Eggers got the center started was amazing.  I love to see creativity at work.  Art is more than drawing or sculpting.

unreflection

It was so nice to be ahead in this class.  I had read the chapter before we needed to, but I got confused and mixed up with my other class.  I decided not to post my reflection untill this week.  I will be on top of things once again.
Now I would like to let my followers know that I do not have internet at home, so my usage is limited.  I will try to get back with anyone as soon as I am able.
Next I want to comment on Jordan's party.  It was fun although I need to say that the 7th graders party way better than the 8th graders.  The 8th graders just stood around txtng.  I should have taken all phones!  Oh well, their loss:/

Finally, I have been able to download the drop box and tux paint.  Now, if I can get my bluetooth refiguration to download, I will be in business!  Technology--never boring.

downloads

I am having a hard time downloading the digital dopbox. I am getting a little irate about the situation. I have it downloaded but I can not access it. I never once got a pop up asking to open or run the thing. I also tried to download a school tool, tuxedo paint. I had the same problem. Maybe my computer is blocking it. Ugh!!!!!

Chapter 5 Reflection

This chapter was ok. The first time I went to college, I was studying to be a computer science engineer. Although that stint didn't last long, I did retain some of the information. The video was more interesting. The impromptu study on how children can learn the internet and to figure out English without speaking it, was wonderful. I knew that children had it in them. Where were the parents? I would think that they would be wondering what their child was doing at the whole in the wall. The children probably learned more since there were no adults.
Right now I am checking out Tux Paint. It seems pretty cool. I will let you know more later.

Chapter 4 and skype

The conversation on skype and chapter 4 had alot of the same content.  We talked about different "Universal Design Technology" tools to help every learner learn the way they need.  Some can be useful for the "smart" and some for the "retarded."  Technology is a good tool for everyone.

Jordan

Jordan is my daughter. She is in Mrs. Watson's broadcasting class. I have included a link on my blog to go to their PV LOL casts. Look on the videos. These kids are really funny and creative.youtube/marzwatson

Chapter 3-video

To me, chapter three had a lot of words that basically said, when making a lesson plan you must get an idea, figure what you want them to learn, how are they going to learn the content, and how are the students going to show you that they got the material. The videos were much better. If only all our children were as articulate as Svitak. If only the adults were the same... She had many good points, all of which I agree. Children need to be heard. They are people, too. Sometimes they may seem "childish," but we do to. What would our world be like if at some point we were not "childish."

Adora Svitak

reflection chap. 2

Chapter two contained information on the different learning styles and the different factors that may effect the learning styles.  This chapter also introduced some "teachers" that named the different learning styles.  The next part of the chapter talked about technology through the years.  How a quill pen and slates were the first kind of technology and then things blossomed into computers and held devices with internet.  I enjoyed the timeline.  I liked seeing the different steps we took to get to today.

Week 1 reflection

Today in class we each had a turn in telling our names and why we are here.  We were asked why we attend college.  We got our homework assignment.  Mr. Chamberlain walked us through aquiring a gmail account.  He also showed us how to blog!  Tonights class was very intersting.  We discussed AECT and ISTE.
Education is Learning-- This is the one thing Mr. Chamberlain made clear this evening.  This class will be a great tool.
